„Art Rozaliada – a scenic feast of love and wine“

12 February 2014

For a second consecutive year, on 14 February the exhibition "Art Rozaliada – a scenic feast of love and wine” will open. The event is in support of the candidacy of Veliko Tarnovo for European Capital of Culture and is organized by the Faculty of Arts of the University "St. Cyril and Methodius", with the support of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo.

Students and professors from the University of Veliko Tarnovo are involved in the exhibition with their works of art - sculptures, paintings and graphics, which combine Valentine's Day and Trifon’s Day celebration. The best works will be awarded with special prizes, organizers said.

Curator of the exhibition is Chief Assist. Vladimir Avramov from the Faculty of Fine Arts. "Rozalii are ancient Thracian wine festivals, but viewed in the competitive aspect, they are the noble principles of the Olympic race. Hence the wordplay – rozaliada is obtained of rozalii and olimpiada (Bulgarian for Olympics). And to obtain the synthesis with art, we added “art”, says Avramov.

The opening of the exhibition is at 17:30, then the event will continue in Mellon club with a jazz concert. The next day, February 15, Art Rozaliada will continue with a "Love Concert" under the motto "We start with love and end with wine! Or vice versa.” In the showrooms, at 17:30, Todor Kotopanov - bass and Magdalena Vassileva will perform works by Schumann, Chopin, Giovanni Martini and others.

The event is with free admission for all who are in love, as well as for the residents and visitors of the old capital.
