Veliko Tarnovo submitted its candidacy for 2019 in Ravenna

Together with Plovdiv, Sofia and Varna, Veliko Tarnovo was included in a workshop for the European Capital of Culture in Ravenna, one of the Italian cities applying for the prestigious title in 2019. The event was attended by the Bulgarian Ambassador in Italy Marin Raykov and Borislava Chakrinova from the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Rome.

The project of our city was presented by Nelly Tsarova, Director of "Culture and Tourism" Directorate in Veliko Tanovo and Tsvetomir Boyadziev, head of the Municipal Tourism Agency "Tsarevgrad Tarnov." The opportunities for partnership and cooperation in the field of culture between the two cities were discussed on a special workshop with representatives of the team of Ravenna, cultural operators, artists and NGOs.
