Over 50 cities in Europe have been attaching martenitsas in support of the candidacy of Veliko Tarnovo for 2019

Over 50 cities in Europe is going to attach martenitsas support the candidacy of Veliko Tarnovo for 2019 on 1 March. So they will be included in the initiative "Martenitsa -  the Bulgarian symbol in Europe", which for the second year, promotes cross-border red-and-white symbol for health, happiness and fertility. One meter martenitsa made of volunteers will be placed at iconic locations in the twin cities of Veliko Tarnovo, and those who have been or are to be European capital of culture, as well as the Italian cities Cagliari, Lecce, Matera, Perugia, Ravenna and Siena, which continue the race for the European capital of culture 2019. The big martenitsas will be draped in Gabrovo, Dryanovo and all municipalities of the region, which support the candidacy of Veliko Tarnovo on the winner of the most prestigious prize for culture of the old continent.

Baba Marta will greet children, citizens and guests of the city. At 11: 40 pm the old woman and her granddaughter will meet with the children, to the puppet theatre in the Chitalishte "Iskra". Of all the stops Baba Marta will deal the martenitsa with the logo of the Veliko Tarnovo for European capital of culture.
