Stars of the Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra perform in Arbanasi church

Stars of the Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra will perform in the acoustically unique Church of Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Arbanasi, famous also for its XVIIth century frescoes. An international group of musicians will perform works of Ravel and Debussy and church music by the Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks on 6, 8 and 11 August, during the Classical Chamber Music Festival “Arbanasi Summer Music”.

Classical music addicts will enjoy the performance of Orsolya Horváth and Tamas Sandor – violin, Barbara Giepner – viola, Diego Liberati – cello, Julita Fasseva – double bass, Peter Verhoyen – flute, Dimitri Mestdag – oboe, Marija Pavlovic – clarinet, Eliz Erkalp – horn, Pieter Nuytten – bassoon. The musicians come from different European countries – Croatia, Hungary, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany. All of them have outstanding solo careers, play with renowned orchestras around the world and are soloists of the Symphony Orchestra, supported by the Flemish Government (Belgium). Among them is Veliko Tarnovo born Julita Fasseva (double bass), who developed the concept of the festival, together with her husband - Dimitri Mestdag. The fifth consecutive edition of the festival is organised by the Regional Museum of History and Veliko Tarnovo Municipality and supports Veliko Tarnovo’s bid for 2019 European Capital of Culture. For the first time a child will perform together with the famous musicians – the 15 year old Roberta Verna, who is half-Bulgarian and lives in Berlin will perform Sonata for Solo Violin by Eugène Ysaÿe.
