EASA Geodesic Dome – a new art location

6 August 2014

The Geodesic Dome, constructed during the European Architecture Students Assembly in Veliko Tarnovo, becomes a location for art events.

The spectacular wooden sphere was transferred from the site where it was constructed to the parking area near Asenevtsi Monument, just beyond Stambolov Bridge. The proposal for its relocation was made by Veliko Tarnovo Mayor, Daniel Panov, so that more citizens and visitors of the town could see it.

The Geodesic Dome was designed by the Italian architect Gianluca Stasi and constructed with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute in Bulgaria. The visual effect of the structure will be highlighted by decorative lighting, installed in the sphere.

Starting next week the installation will be used by the free bookstore initiative, as a stage for art performance and as a meeting point for discussions of urban development and cultural topics.
